Our Adoption Journey

In August of 2004, we decided to add to our family through adoption. My husband and I discussed adoption even before we were married. Because I'm Korean, it was a likely choice to adopt a child from Korea. For the past 2 years, this road of adoption has had it's share of ups and downs, joys and sorrows but what things in life that are really worthwhile is ever absent of these things. In November of 2005, we were ecstatic with receiving a referral of a baby girl and the excitement of preparing to meet our daughter and little baby sister for Helena (our 3 year old). In mid-January of 2006, we had to sit with the sadness and grief of loosing a daughter and baby sister whom we would never meet because her birthmother reclaimed her. So many mixed emotions...sadness&grief, happy&relieved that a child will know her mother's love. Return to the waiting game for another referral. About 3 months ago, we received another referral of our baby girl and baby sister Yoo Jin (Precious Jewel). Today one lag of our journey to Yoo Jin is about to end and another about to begin.
*****WE RECEIVED OUR TRAVEL CALL THIS MORNING(06/26) AT 6AM THAT OUR BABY GIRL IS READY TO COME HOME.*** We're hoping for all three of us to travel to meet Yoo Jin. It's going to be crazy hectic and chaotic as we prepare to travel to bring home our new daughter/baby sister into our home. Please be praying for us that we would have safe travels but also there will be good attachment and bonding with Yoo Jin. We can't wait to introduce you to Yoo Jin but please keep in mind for the first month or so we will be limiting visitors and holding Yoo Jin to Matthew and myself (so that we can promote good attachment and bonding)...don't take it personally.
